Evaluation of the eScreen eCup Drugs of Abuse Screening Device: Correlation with EMITII and GC/MS.

The eCup Drugs of Abuse screening system is a urine collection device and immunochromatographic assay. The assay provides a rapid test system with the eScreen eReader to provide qualitative results within 8 minutes or less using SAMHSA cutoff concentrations. eScreen assays for Amphetamine (as Methamphetamine), Cannabinoids (THC), Cocaine Metabolite (as Benzoylecgonine), Opiates (as Morphine), and PCP (Phencyclidine) were evaluated in this study.

Qualitative drug screening results obtained by an independent study of testing clinical samples with eCup Drugs of Abuse Screening Device were compared to qualitative results obtained by EMIT II (Syva, Dade Behring).

All Positive eScreen and EMIT II results were confirmed by GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry).

Results show the eCup Drugs of Abuse Screening Device for the rapid qualitative detection of Amphetamines, Cannabinoids (THC), Cocaine Metabolite, Opiates and PCP can provide accurate and reliable screening results in urine when compared to a SAMHSA laboratory.
