eScreen123 :: Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the components of the eScreen Drugs of Abuse Screening system?
The eScreen Drugs of Abuse Screening System is comprised of the eCup, the eReader, a PC computer, monitor, printer, bar-code scanner, ePad, and the eScreen123 software. This system is used in conjunction with MyeScreen.com web-based results reporting, creating an automated, web-based drug testing solution.
What are the benefits of eScreen123?
eScreen123 is designed to eliminate unnecessary manual steps in the drug testing process - saving time, saving money, and improving service levels to clients. By creating an electronic Chain of Custody form, eScreen123 eliminates all the errors and waste caused by the printing, faxing, delivery, storage, postage, data entry, and manual completion of forms. These manual processes represent $3-$5 of cost per test that can be eliminated with a paperless system.
What are the benefits of using the eReader?
The eCup/eReader rapid drug testing system reduces labor and unnecessary errors in the testing process. Instrumented point-of-collection drug testing eliminates interpretation and transcription errors, ensuring the complete objectivity of the test procedure. It eliminates confidentiality concerns at the clinic, as the collector does not receive the test results. Furthermore, the system is designed as a 'walk-away' process, so the collector inserts the cup, starts the test, and then is free to move on to other tasks. Less labor, less cost, fewer errors.
What are the benefits of using MyeScreen.com in conjunction with eScreen123? Employers receive results electronically through MyeScreen.com, eliminating time consuming manual faxing of lab reports. A total solution program management website, MyeScreen.com is the most advanced software of it's kind, featuring test event scheduling, random program administration, physicals management and sophisticated customer report generation.
How long does it take to get results with the eScreen drug testing system? The eReader testing process takes approximately 3 to 8 minutes. Data is transmitted over eScreen's proprietary network while testing is being performed. This automates and accelerates the hiring process by providing negative drug test results to the client's desktop within 15-minutes of test completion.
How can clients utilize the benefits of the eScreen123, MyeScreen.com and MRO software independently from the eCup and eReader? The eScreen Software Suite provides users with a paperless system to paperlessly manage an entire drug screening program. The eCup and eReader provide revolutionary technology for screening urine specimens for drugs, but some clients may not be able to use the eCup and eReader for all clinic locations. For these clients, clinics have the option of utilizing the eScreen123 software application to provide them with paperless Chains of Custody and data management for: Lab-based oral fluid and urine testing, breath alcohol test devices, and manual Instant testing devices such as mCup and mCheck.
Can I use eScreen to manage my manual DOT testing processes?
DOT tests and manual collections can be logged into eScreen123 which preaccessions the data to the lab. The eScreen123 software ensures proper collection steps are followed, however, per regulations, a paper Chain of Custody must accompany the test to the lab.
How is specimen validity testing handled with instant drug testing?
The eCup lid is designed with a built-in specimen validity profile to identify any donor tampering of the specimen. The eReader provides interpretation documentation of possible tampering by testing for Nitrates, pH, and Creatinine in the specimen.
Why is eScreen's eCup a 5-panel test vs. a 7 or 10-panel test?
A 7 panel and 10 panel test include testing for drugs like barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and methaqualones. The value of testing for these drugs is debatable. Statistics from January through June 2003 found only a .04% positivity rate for benzodiazepine, 0% positivity rate for methaqualones, and barbiturates came in at .03%. Approximately 76% of barbiturates and 67% of benzodiazepines were overturned by the MRO (Medical Review Officer) based on legitimate prescriptions. Focusing on a 5 panel test eliminates unnecessary delay from the MRO due to overturned positives from prescriptions.
How accurate is the eScreen instrumented point-of-collection drug testing device as opposed to laboratory EMITII and GC/MS screening?
eCup utilizes chemical assays that are similar to those employed in a laboratory environment. eCup is 99% as accurate as the lab-based EMIT II drug screening test. All tests that are screened non-negative will be confirmed by GC/MS at SAMHSA certified laboratories. A comprehensive evaluation between the eScreen system and the EMIT II and GC/MS can be found on the eScreen Validation Study.
