Founder Biography
Murray Lappe, M.D.
Chairman of the Board and Founder of eScreen, Inc.
Dr. Lappe founded eScreen, Inc. In 1998. Dr. Lappe also founded National Medical Review Offices, Inc. (NMRO) and served as it's Chief Executive Officer from 1989-2001. NMRO is the nation's leading Medical Review Officer service.
Dr. Lappe has been a pioneer in workplace drug testing since it's original introduction in 1983. Dr. Lappe was one of the original founders of Forefront Diagnostics, a manufacturer of rapid assay systems for drugs of abuse. Prior to starting these two organizations, Dr. Lappe worked in various positions throughout the occupational medicine field. He has nearly 20 years of experience in medical device development and occupational medicine. He holds 9 patents related to drugs of abuse testing, and is the inventor of the eScreen Instant Drugs testing system.
Dr. Lappe received his Medical Degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in life sciences and mathematics from the University of Illinois. He is also certified by the American Association of Medical Review Officers. He is a specialist in occupational medicine and a nationally recognized Medical Review Officer.
As a corporate Medical director of transportation, national manufacturers retail and service industries, he has been at the forefront of developing the policies and procedures that affect workplace drug testing, which helped lead to the development of the eScreen Drugs of Abuse Screening System.
Dr. Lappe has also served on the Board of Directors for the Institute for a Drug Free Workplace, SAPAA, and has testified before the US House of Representatives on drug testing. He has participated on various Federal committees to develop and improve methods for workplace drug testing. He is a leader in developing state-of-the-art, online communications for fast, accurate reporting of drug test results. He is a renowned lecturer on occupational medicine and workplace substance abuse.
